My first signature cane, made for our FB Group.
I used fondant cutter to shape the letters, I added one of my Face cane that looks kind of like me with my gray hair ;-) I also tried a packing technique for the reduction, to avoid too much distortion and it works. It was a small cane so it was easy to pack it with scrap clay, I will need to try it on a bigger cane to compare the result. I'm happy, I will be able to sign my creations with my very own signature cane now. From a kid drawing to a cane...a huge cane. I lost the eyes of the Scarab in the reduction process, but I like it anyway. This cane was 5" X 2.5" before reduction.
I'm writing a tutorial, it will be revealed in October. 112 beads made by my daughter, her friend and me, for Beads of Courage challenge. While they have a "community service 8th grade Project", I told them they could make beads and earn few hours of work. Nice way to work and help !
I'm starting to have a lot of canes here. So I decided to make beads from them. Some will be for sale, some will be for Beads of Courage.
I tried a totally new display this week end. And I love it. More open, more organized. For the first time, people actually noticed my clocks! I was happy to see how a display can change everything. Unfortunately it's a display I can use in a 10x10 booth, but won't work when I just have 1 or 2 tables at Craft fair.
My "Butterflies in Flowers" clock is now at the Richmond Art Center - Local Artists Gallery. The opening was Saturday 13th, and the show is until August 23rd.
Creating large cane sometimes give me some ideas. Weird or cool ideas, I let you decide. But I had this creation in my head since quite a long time now, I was just wasting time not doing it. ![]() From this cane face. ![]() Before reducing my cane I kept a slice of the large one first. ![]() And, I made this Art Portrait. Ocean Fairy. The process in pictures ![]() Trying without back frame... ![]() Deciding with back frame. It gives support, and will be easier to hang it or frame it the way you want. It's 9"X12". So weird or cool ?? For me it was fun to make that's for sure ;-) You can buy her on my website: http://www.isabelleclayart.com/store/p290/Ocean_Fairy_Portrait_.html Thank you to https://www.etsy.com/shop/plumblossomfarm for the beautiful Blue Wool Locks from her local sheep farm.
Another drawing from my daughter gave me inspiration for a cane. Blue blue blue a lot of blue....all my stock of blue went in this huge cane. It's a large cane. 5"X4"X3". The reduction was a little difficult with some distortion, and I had a lot of waste. But enough of cane to create new items.
Do you remember my Blue face cane from my daughter drawing. I finally had a chance for reduce it. I really like it. What do you think?
